This two day event begins with an introduction to the BIOBLITZ!
Nature is everywhere! Plants and animals are what people notice the most often, but fungi, slime molds, bacteria, and "protozoans" can be incredibly abundant and diverse as well. This diversity of organisms is termed Biodiversity. My name is Jonathan Carpenter. I am a biodiversity and Bioblitz specialist. In short, a Bioblitz is a citizen-science driven event that focuses on a location's biodiversity. Education, science, and community are integral to the Bioblitz concept. A Bioblitz is for everyone, from school children to teachers to land managers to taxonomists. It is for anyone who has a stake in the nature world - and indeed that's all of us. Bring yourself, your family, your friends, your enthusiasm, your curiosity. Photographers welcome. We will be documenting all forms of life that we find and recording our findings on iNaturalist, a citizen-science database hosted by California Academy of Sciences.
